Oathstone didn't begin as a software idea.
It began with one family trying to navigate the reality of complex disability—doctors, schools, therapists, agencies, insurance, equipment, records, deadlines and decisions that all affected the same person, but rarely communicated with one another.
We learned how to connect those pieces because we had to.
Then we asked: What if other families didn't have to figure all of this out from scratch?
That became Oathstone. And everything Oathstone learned became the foundation for Lantern.

Questions families ask
The scholarship is named for Savannah. From early childhood, she consistently removed the sock from her right foot while leaving the left one on. Before she could walk, she moved in her own way — including rolling to get where she wanted to go — and her family often found the missing right sock somewhere behind her.
They affectionately called her the "One Sock Wonder." Somehow, while sitting there with one bare foot, she had every adult around her running in circles after her. She did not need to walk to move the people around her, and she did not need words to make herself understood.
That one bare foot became a reminder that disabled people communicate and experience the world in ways others may not immediately understand. Sometimes our job is not to force someone into expectations, but to pay attention long enough to understand what they are telling us. That belief became part of Oathstone.
Families already carry significant responsibilities, and some who could benefit most from Oathstone may have difficulty absorbing another expense. Applicants do not need a perfect essay or have to prove their suffering. We simply want to know who we are supporting, what they are facing, and how Oathstone could help.
Sometimes the person everyone thinks needs help is the person teaching the rest of us how to see the world differently.
